Since ebe has been posting about various bee encounters, I should share what I witnessed on Friday. It's the kind of thing that makes me wish digital cameras were cheap enough that I could carry one around at all times without fear of losing it. When I met up with Alex later he suggested a disposable camera, and I really wish I'd thought of it.

I walked out of Flinders Street station heading up Elizabeth Street. At the corner there's a tram terminus where some sort of maintenance was going on. As I passed Subway I turned and noticed a huge number of moths flying around the front of a car parked at the end of the tram line. When I looked at the front of the car, I realised that they were bees, and there must have been a couple of hundred more perched on and around the left headlight. I don't think I've ever seen so many bees in one place, except for seeing beehives on television, and photographs of crazy men with bee beards.
