LWN is the best source of news about Linux and free software there is. I've been a very satisfied subscriber for almost four years now. It's not just the quality of reporting, especially of Linux kernel development — which is consistently excellent — but I must admit that the dry editorial wit keeps me coming back (my emphasis):

WordPress is, according to its web site, "a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability." In other words, it is yet another weblog platform written in PHP.

That's the start of a good article on the backdoor code inserted into the Wordpress 2.1.1 distribution on their own download site.
