Building Mozilla on Windows without a Microsoft compiler

OK, I thought my Linux Mozilla build took up a lot of space; but I'm reading these Windows Mozilla build instructions and this just can't be right:

Be sure you have enough disk space available. You must have 3.7GB free disk space available. The building tools are around 110MB. The Mozilla source before building it is around 200Mb.
